I want to be able to play the game without the calendar date showing in the upper left or the black borders during cutscenes. Can this be done similar to how the metaverse Kaleidoscope removal mod works?

There's an executable patch that hides HUD elements such as the date, name of the map, minimap, button prompts etc. called p5_NoHudLite which might be what you're looking for.
Although more difficult, it might also be possible to dummy out the graphics (likely a few SPR/PLG files) similar to the kaleidoscope mod, but only if you want to keep certain things and not others.

That patch looks promising, but since I'm playing on PS3 and not RPCS3, I can't provide a PPU Hash. ._.

I was hoping someone knows which graphic files you need to edit to at least keep the in-game date from showing. The borders I can live with.
