Help Modding PQ2

Hi all

I am a member for this site for awhile now and finding what you all do amazing, I have tried basic modding of Smt IV and its sequel as in removing the player text flashing in battle and near the press turn icons as I found for me it breaks emersion, it took awhile for me to do this but I used layered fs for testing on my 3DS and various programs found on this helpful site to mod the STEX files for this to work.

But I am trying to mod PQ2 but finding hard due to having to unpack the files and having problems opening them with various programs of file formats and have no idea how a layered fs patch would work if this was even done with the files as it seems very different layout to SMT IV.

I am wondering how hard it would be to mod PQ2 to remove the action clapper before the battle starts and the film filter in cutscenes and while traversing dungeons? and could it be usable with layered fs?

Any help would be appreciated

Kind Regards

Hi! Persona Q2 has a patch which allows you to permanently change the protagonists' names to bypass the 6 character limit, I made a video on how to use it awhile back. Something I didn't cover in the video (because it came later) is, it also enables "mod.cpk support" which means you can build a CPK named "mod.cpk" containing ONLY your changed files and place that in the game's layeredFS folder.

Building the new CPK is as simple as opening the Mod Compendium, choosing Persona Q2 as the game, hitting the "New" button and placing your files in the mod folder it creates. It'll still ask for a CPK path in the settings, but if you uncheck "use extracted files" it won't do anything with it. Just make sure your edited files match the directory structure of the data.cpk.

As for the rest, I don't know a whole lot about where those assets are exactly. Amicitia can open most PAC/BIN or SPR files which may contain the 2D textures used for those, though.
