Help with EBOOT patching?

So I after seeing lipsum's menu UI color-changing patch I wanted to try out EBOOT patching myself, I've heard that editing it is hell, but I still want to figure it out in order to change things like the menu colors or even other things that are hardcoded into the game.
When I looked at what's inside the EBOOT while using Ghidra I was so confused about literally everything and I have no idea which line in the code does what.
If anyone could help me with a guide or tips on how to start EBOOT patching then I'd really appreciate it. :)
