Can someone explain to me how to convert RMD files like I'm five?

Hello good people of persona modding! I'm having trouble extracting models and animations from P3FES. I use Amicitia 1.9.5 and trying to export RenderWare Clumps into .dae format as per the instruction on the GitHub page. Unfortunately the best result is separate mesh parts being scattered all over the scene or meshes getting chewed up and having vertices fly away in random directions. On op of that, skeletons end up broken into several parts, and bones have no proper names. As for the animations, I can't export them at all and there seems to be zero information about how to do it.
I wanted to try 3dsMax import script but apparently it was taken down as I can't open the link?
I would greatly appreciate any help.

Sorry about the download being down! In the meantime here's a reupload:

I think the maxscript is still the best/most convenient way to get the models, and the only way to get the animation data. I don't think animation exporting was ever finished for Amicitia sadly. Another unfortunate thing is that the RMD format doesn't retain any node names so the best we get are ID numbers for bones

I see what you mean about the exports from Amicitia looking broken btw, I think that's just a limitation of the program. Support for exporting that way was pretty much dropped as soon as the maxscript became a thing since it worked much better. Sometimes it helps to export as .DAE instead of .FBX (idk why it's the default) and to export the clumps individually, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

If you export the contents of the zip all to the same folder and do Scripting > Run Script in 3DSMax, it should simply work. At least, for character models. I don't know if the maxscript ever supported .RWS models for fields and whatnot :hee_haw:

Hey thanks a lot! Shame I can't escape using max, but at least it works! After some testing it seems be doing its job fine more or less, certainly doesn't absolutely massacre anything unlike other methods. No luck trying to import any field meshes though, so I guess I'll have to reassemble them by hand.
Also worth mentioning that the animation script doesn't work "out of the box", there's a hard link pointing to the file (FileStreamReader.ms) on, presumably, author's pc, so it has to be replaced first.
P.S. It's great to see a modding forum not being dead, everything is Discord now, searchable info is getting more and more scarce.

No problem, glad you got everything figured out now! And thanks, I agree it's important to have stuff available to search engines. I see the appeal of Discord for sure, it's a lot more instant gratification but I definitely miss the days of active forums. I'm happy that I could provide an alternative resource though!
